Everyone loves the typical Ethiopian. This coffee has well-balanced sweetness and freshness with hint of caramel, stone fruit and black tea!
Aricha is located at 1900 masl, closer to Yirgacheffe Town in Gedeo. Aricha is well known for its floral and citrus-driven character. This specific station buys cherries from approximately 750 farmers all located in the area. Their farms are on average 2 hectares in size and sit between 1900 and 2100 masl. The location of this washing station is close to the river and smallholder farms which means that no farmer needs to transport their cherries for more than 40 minutes before reaching the station. The station manager is Cherab na Betesebu.
For 2023 coffees, harvest started in all the major growing areas of Ethiopia in November. Cherry prices were quite high early in the harvest compared to previous years. Yields were overall superior, which historically should have meant a reduction in cherry price further into the season, but new regulations and increased competition for coffee prevented it from happening. Coffees allowed to enter Addis for export were departmentalised starting with West Arsi, Limu, Sidamo finishing with Guji.
