This is a beautiful cup of Kenyan coffee. It is sweet and jammy with notes of blackberries and tropical fruits.
Ngandu factory is under the Rutuma Farmers' Cooperative Society, which is located in the heart of Nyeri, just outside of the town of Karatina. The Ngandu factory was created in 1964 and there are currently 697 farmer members who deliver cherries. The farms sit at 1700-1800 metres above sea level. The farmers usually grow SL 28, SL 34, Batian, and Ruiru 11.
The farmers sort only ripe cherries. After pulping, the parchment is left in the tanks so that it can ferment overnight. Once the parchment is fermented it is separated into P1, P2, P3, and P lights and dried for 10-16 days. The factory uses raised beds to dry the parchment. The farmers use the cherry pulp and manure as fertiliser for their trees.
